MsOffice 2007 Compatability Pack for MsO2003

Strangely enough, I’m already finding that I had to download this:

This is a whopper of a “pack” – it’s 29 megs – and allows Office 2007 documents to be opened in Office 2003.

Microsoft recommends that users run Microsoft Update against their machine to get the latest updates prior to introducing this pack.

I am glad that Microsoft has released this product. I guess this would sort of be considered a differentiating strategy because not many software companies allow an older version, of an application, to open a newer file type. I have definitely seen newer apps opening older files but not vice versa.

You know one of my previous professors couldn’t open some documents I submitted in PPT and Word 2007 and didn’t let me know until the last week of the course and then said that it was too late to resubmit them, talk about “students first”? Ha!
