Microsoft has offered a free downloadable add-in for Word that allows a user to perform redaction (blacking-out of text that could be considered confidential). Microsoft says that the black bar used to mask the text _cannot_ be converted back into text following redaction, and encourages the document’s hard copy and/or electronic distribution.
